During the summer of 2012, Hyde Park is set to host two Olympic competitions and the largest Live Site in London.
Following local and stakeholder consultation, LOCOG submitted a planning application for Hyde Park to host the Olympic Triathlon and Marathon Swimming competitions in 2012. Planning permission for this was granted by Westminster City Council in February 2011.
During the summer of 2012 the Triathlon competition will take place on 4 and 7 August and the Marathon Swimming competition will take place on 9 and 10 August.

London Live Hyde Park, will allow sports fans to come together to celebrate the Olympic Games by viewing live events on six large screens. Free to access from 28 July to 11 August 2012, the site will be open from early morning to midnight during each day of the Olympic Games.
During each evening the London Live main screen will turn into a live music stage bringing headline performances from around the world. In addition to this, outdoor arts performances will be staged across the site (Monday - Friday only) and there will be a range of Olympic and Paralympic sports participation opportunities.

London Live Hyde Park is subject to planning and licensing permission. Following pre-planning consultation, a planning and licensing application for London Live Hyde Park will be submitted to Westminster City Council in December 2011. As part of this a detailed environmental impact assessment report and a noise management and mitigation plan will be presented.
If planning permission is secured then London Live Hyde Park will be located on the Parade Ground, the same place where the regular summer concerts are held. During the free access days (28 July to 11 August) London Live will have a capacity of up to 50,000 people at one time.
As part of London Live Hyde Park, two spectacular celebration concerts are set to take place on 27 July and 12 August for the Opening and Closing Ceremonies of the Olympic Games.
Ticket prices for these two concerts will be announced shortly - you can register for a ticket alert. The two Celebration Concerts will have a capacity of 80,000.
The events this summer will change the way that Westminster residents will use the local area. A leaflet was sent to Westminster residents on 2 April 2012 to explain how the Games will impact them.
