Barclays Cycle Hire is now active. The public self-service bicycle sharing scheme for short journeys in and around central London launched at the end of July. As part of this scheme, a number of cycle hire stations are located within the parks, for the collection and deposit of hire bikes.
Users of the scheme can become members, saving money with annual access and obtaining a key to access cycles quickly. Alternatively, casual use of the bicycles requires no need to sign up prior to use, and users can pay at the bicycle docking station with a credit or debit card.
The cost to hire bikes includes an access fee and a sliding usage charge depending on the length of time you use the bike. There is no usage charge for journeys of 30 minutes or under.
