An update on the transfer of The Royal Parks from the Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) to the Greater London Authority (GLA)
The Government issued a statement today regarding the transfer of the management of the eight Royal Parks and the Royal Parks Agency from DCMS to the GLA. The statement includes information about the current arrangements, the management of The Royal Parks and a summary of the benefits of the transfer. Re Transfer of The Royal Parks to the GLA
The Localism Bill was published this afternoon. Although the transfer of management of The Royal Parks to the GLA is not included on the face of the Bill, we understand that it remains the Government's intention to transfer the management of the parks to the Mayor of London at the earliest possible opportunity.

The Government previously suggested that the transfer of The Royal Parks to the GLA may be included in the Localism Bill, which is due to be published shortly. However, Communities and Local Government recently announced that The Royal parks will be considered separately.
