Stag Beetles

Uncover the Secret Life of Stag Beetles

We need to learn as much as possible about the Stag Beetles in Richmond Park and you can play a vital role. If nothing else, volunteering is a great excuse for getting out into the fresh air and spending more time in the Park.

Two of the key tasks we need teams of volunteers for are
i) to make regular walks, at the same time of day every few days, looking for emerging beetles as well as the remains of dead ones
and
ii) to set up and tend beetle traps, marking and then releasing the caught beetles.

You may need a little training before being able to do the job quickly and effectively but if you would like to help both the beetles and the Park, please email Richmond@Royalparks.gsi.gov.uk or phone on 020 8948 3209 with the following information:

  • Name
  • Telephone contact number
  • The days and time slots you can offer regular help.

Time slots are:
Morning 9:30am to 12:30
Afternoon 2:00pm to 5pm
Evening 6:30 to 9:30pm.
Days are: Monday to Sunday.

Also you can ask about our Saturday Beetle Walks or visit our events page for all the Parks.
