Passage to Freedom
A living history performance on the abolition of the slave trade funded by The Royal Parks.
This empowering play celebrates the lives and work of all those who campaigned to abolish the slave trade and eventually slavery itself. Various historical characters will be featured, from parliamentary reformers and ordinary British people to those who suffered directly as slaves themselves, you will learn of the hardships they overcame and how they shaped the movement that would end centuries of injustice. The performance will be near to the Buxton Memorial Fountain which commemorates some of the pro-abolition campaigners. Sessions are available for schools to support KS3 History & Citizenship and there will also be public performances.
