£1 exercise classes for the Unemployed
Keep fit in Regent's Park
A wide range of activities to inspire people to keep their New Year's resolution of getting fit in 2009 are on offer at The Hub, Regent's Park. For the unemployed; over 60's; and those registered disabled, all exercise classes will cost a maximum of £1 each.
The new sports programme will run from now until 5th April 2009 and classes will be held between 7.30 and 19.30. Activities include circuit training; pilates; yoga; and cardio kick. They are offered on a pay-as-you-go basis and cost between £2.50 and £8.50 per session, unless the participant qualifies for the £1 maximum charge. Some classes are free to all participants, including beginners' jogging; intermediate running; and power walking.
Jill Osleger, Active Sports Manager, Regent's Park, said: "The recession means that people are forced into making cut-backs and we feel that exercise should not be one of them. By offering a range of classes from Circuits to Pilates from as little as £1, we hope that people are encouraged to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Our classes are based at The Hub and also use the outside space of Regent's Park - we hope that people are encouraged to view this as a great alternative to the expense of joining a gym."
