Big Drawings of Bushy Birds
Swans to skylarks - get drawn to Bushy Park
The Royal Parks will host an outdoor Artists' Studio in Bushy Park on Wednesday 28 October 2009. As part of the nationwide Big Draw month, the Royal Parks' education team and Artist in Residence, Caroline Jones, will work with children and adults to create artwork inspired by birds.
This free day of creative fun will take place from 11am to 3pm in the Children's Playground, Bushy Park. Activities include drawing birds, folding origami birds and making flapping bird finger puppets. There will also be a competition to draw the best 'Bushy Bird' and there will be lots of information on the birds that live in the park.
Hannah Pritchard, Education and Community Engagement Officer, Bushy Park said: "We hope that The Big Draw will encourage lots of people to get creative and to have fun in the great outdoors. The theme this year is birds and there is no shortage of inspiration in Bushy Park."

About Bushy Park: Bushy Park to the south west of London, has a history stretching back at least 4,000 years, firstly as a settlement and farming land, then as a park for hunting deer. The Park was also the site of a US base in the Second World War from which Eisenhower planned the invasion of Europe. Today, Bushy Park offers a unique open space for the community. Covering 445 hectares (1099 acres), the Park is home to around 320 free-roaming wild deer and countless plant and wildlife species. The Park combines 'wild' open spaces with formal avenues of trees and historic buildings, sporting grounds and a playground.
