Life in Water Activities at the Holly Lodge Centre Richmond Park
Richmond Park

As part of its programme for European Year of the Disabled, the Holly Lodge Centre in Richmond Park has been hosting groups of people with special needs to try out new pond dipping activities. Mr Peter Davison came along to see what creatures the children from Bedelsford School in Kingston were catching in the pond. Peter is one of the patrons of the Centre and is well known in his recent roles in the TV programmes the Braithwaites and Dangerous Davies. He was an earlier star in All Creatures Great and Small - and the children were certainly looking for the small creatures!

A partnership between The Holly Lodge Centre, The Royal Parks and Ealing MENCAP was successful in a bid for funding for the European Year of the Disabled. The project involves not only develop new activities around life in water, but also for training in disability awareness and setting up a User Forum of disabled people and professionals who work with them. In the autumn they will be trying out sessions learning about birds in the wheelchair accessible hide in Pen Ponds Plantation in Richmond Park.
