Royal Parks takes the crown - two awards for the Regent's Park
Success in BALI Landscape awards; five stars for The Hub in Loo of the Year

The Regent's Park, one of London's eight Royal Parks, has triumphed at the 30th BALI National Landscape Awards. It gained the Principal Award for the Grounds Maintenance of Public Grounds (with free/constant public access). The award recognised its high quality upkeep and all-round standards. The presentation was made by Lord Sebastian Coe to the Royal Parks and their contractor, Service Team, at a ceremony held at the Park Lane Hilton Hotel on Friday November 3rd 2006.

The citation reads 'This certificate is given in recognition of the Contractor, Designer and Client working in harmony to produce an exceptional award winning scheme in its category for the year'. The park is managed by the Royal Parks staff and the grounds and landscaping services delivered by committed Serviceteam personnel. It welcomes some five million visitors a year.

The Regent's Park covers 166 hectares (410 acres) and was designed in 1811 by renowned architect John Nash and includes stunning rose gardens with more than 30,000 roses of 400 varieties. The Park is the largest outdoor sports area in London with 'The Hub' a community sports pavilion and sports pitches, nearly 100 acres available for sports fans of all abilities.

The toilet facilities at The Hub, the new sports facility in The Regent's Park, have achieved the coveted five stars in the Loo of the Year awards. It was one of three public toilet facilities in Regent's Park and Primrose Hill entered this year. The facilities at both Primrose Hill and Chester Gate were awarded four star status but The Hub's five star facilities allow it to go forward to the National Awards.
