Minotaurs of the Mind - The Second Coil Art Exhibition

Date:
14th Sep 2016 - 30th Sep 2016
Time:
09:00 am - 05:00 pm
Location:
Brompton Cemetery

A powerful series of sculptures and 2D work by Anglo-Brazilian artist Iluá Hauck da Silva will be displayed in the serene surroundings of Brompton Cemetery Chapel. The exhibition forms a visual dialogue with the Cemetery's environment and monuments and resonates with the underlying narratives on the transience of life, loss and grief, as well as with particular 19th century sensibilities which are inherent to Brompton, one of London's oldest Victorian Cemeteries.

Date: 14th September 9.00am-30th September 5.00pm

This exhibition is made possible by the support of the Friends of Brompton Cemetery and the HLF-funded Brompton Cemetery Conservation Project. Brompton Cemetery is managed by the Royal Parks

Artist Curators Talk: Saturday 24th September 1.30-2.30

'Minataurs of the Mind' subverts Victorian values, Greek Mythology, and classical art genres such as Vanitas, in order to articulate reflections on contemporary cultural and social values. Join artist Iluá Hauck da Silva to explore this through conversation, questions and some answers.
