Discover the magnificent minibeasts that call London’s Royal Parks home! Join Mission: Invertebrate for a day of storytelling, bug trails, creative crafting and invertebrate missions galore. Look out for our Giant Snail Caravan packed with family fun!

We'll be travelling around the Royal Parks to bring the learning to you. Each stop on our tour will be filled with activities for everyone!

From July - October, our giant story-telling snail will tour all the Royal Parks from Greenwich Park in the east to Bushy Park in the west, giving you the opportunity to get close to nature and learn more about the wonderful world of invertebrates.

As well as interactive story-telling, visitors will have the chance to get involved in a range of free creative activities focusing on some of the fascinating creatures found in the parks, from spiders, dragonflies and grasshoppers to worms, butterflies and moths. All activities are free and will be happening between 11am – 3pm. No booking required.

Our beautiful Giant Snail caravan has been designed and made by the amazingly talented Darling & Edge, who design and build playful theatrical events and environments that are exciting, unexpected and above all, beautiful. Every installation they create is unique and hand crafted. They are celebrated for bold, intelligent design that playfully transports their audiences into new worlds.

We are very excited to be working with three fantastic storytellers who will be performing new works that explore the wonderful invertebrates living in each of the Royal Parks.

Oliver Wallace

From his little workshop in London, Oliver has been conjuring up beautifully immersive and interactive events, stories, and performances for children since 2010. Often he can be found working his magic with inimitable children’s arts charity The House of Fairy Tales as well as with a host of other marvelous people and organizations. But his most exciting collaborators are always the incredible children he meets along the way.

Rebecca Walker

Rebecca has been running workshops and performances for children for the past seven years. After graduating with a degree in Contemporary Dance she began her own theatre company “The Arch of Starch”. In 2012 they won the Olympic award of best newcomer for the South East Region. She has worked with theatres including The Barbican, The Point, The House of Fairy Tales, South East Dance and many more.

Vanessa Woolf

Vanessa Woolf tells stories that are real, exciting, magical and engaging from start to finish, often using props and music. She performs nationally and internationally, her many clients include the Royal Academy of Arts, National Geographic, Kensington Palace, Royal College of Music, V&A, Selfridges, Big Fish Little Fish, the Unicorn Theatre, the Conway Hall and many more.
