Live screenings of Royal Wedding will allow public to be part of historic event
There will also be a variety of fun activities and entertainment to help Londoners and the capital's visitors feel part of the Royal couple's special day, including live music, with a wedding band at both locations.
Those attending are being treated as guests and, in keeping with wedding tradition, everyone is encouraged to dress up for the occasion and wear a hat. There will be hat-making workshops for the kids and plenty of photo opportunities to capture the excitement of the day, including special photo booths in Hyde Park and a photo station in Trafalgar Square to get instant snaps of family and friends in their celebratory headgear.
Food and drink stalls will be selling champagne, Pimms and wedding cake, and other surprises are being lined up to help guests toast the happy couple.
The Mayor of London Boris Johnson said: 'The Royal Wedding is a fantastic opportunity for Londoners and visitors to come together for a magnificent celebration, in Trafalgar Square, in Hyde Park, or at one of the many street parties taking place across the capital. Amidst the pageantry and tradition, the whole world will experience why London is the greatest city to live, work and visit.'
Heritage and Tourism Minister John Penrose said: The Royal Wedding will put the UK in the international spotlight as never before. Billions all round the world are expected to watch it on TV with hundreds of thousands coming to London to be part of the celebration. These free events - each one taking place in London locations that are world-famous in themselves - will add enormously to the visitor experience.'
Mark Camley, Chief Executive of The Royal Parks said: 'As one of London's Royal Parks, Hyde Park will be a fittingly regal setting for celebrating the Royal Wedding. Since the Great Exhibition in 1851, The Royal Parks has been welcoming visitors from all over the world to Hyde Park. We've hosted many wonderful events since then, but this occasion promises to be truly special. We hope that our guests from across London, UK and the world will enjoy an unforgettable day.'
