The Royal Parks - Major Events Schedule 2015

This year's Major Events Schedule sees the Royal Parks host some of the most prestigious musical, cultural and sporting events in the country including Frieze Art Fair, Virgin Money London Marathon and BBC Proms in the Park.

Barclaycard presents British Summer Time Hyde Park (BST HP) returns on Thursday June 18, kicking off with The Strokes followed by a star studded line-up of headliners including Blur, Kylie Minogue, The Who and Taylor Swift over back-to-back weekends. Since it began in 2013, the Great Oak Stage has played host to The Rolling Stones, Lionel Richie, The Libertines and Neil Young amongst many others – further acts are still to be announced for the 2015 event.

Also making a return is popular foodie festival Taste of London and cultural offering Frieze Art Fair London and Frieze Masters, both in Regent's Park this June and October respectively.

Sporting highlights include the Vitality World Triathlon London in Hyde Park at the end of May. The Mall in St James's Park will once again provide the backdrop as the finish line for the Virgin Money London Marathon in April and the Prudential RideLondon cycling festival in August.

Following an extremely successful 2014/15 season, Europe's No.1 Christmas destination Hyde Park Winter Wonderland makes its return in November. Enjoyed by millions, the six-week event will once again provide fun and festivities for all the family.

The eight Royal Parks have a long and historic tradition of hosting events. The unique and picturesque open spaces have provided the backdrop to iconic and memorable moments throughout history including Nelson Mandela's 90th birthday concert, the Golden and Diamond Jubilee celebrations of Her Majesty the Queen, Live8, Pavarotti in the Park and the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Alun Mainwaring, Head of Events at The Royal Parks said: "We are proud of our heritage in hosting and managing prestigious events, and 2015 is no exception.

"The events we host are some of the most popular in the country, bringing millions of people to London each year. By attending and enjoying the events in the Royal Parks visitors are contributing vital funds which go back into conserving and enhancing the parks for future generations."

As well as major events, the Royal Parks hosts a range of ceremonial and smaller events each year. These include the Changing of the Queen's Life Guard at Horse Guards Parade Ground and Changing the Guard at Buckingham Palace, The Queen's Birthday Parade each June, together with the ceremony of Beating Retreat.

Alun added: "We know the parks are used in many different ways by many different people so it is essential to maintain a balance, whether it's the summer concerts in Hyde Park or a 5k run in Richmond Park our aim is to offer a diverse range of events which provide cultural, social and sporting activities in the open space for public enjoyment and promote a wider appreciation of the parks to visitors."
