Transport For London (TfL) plan to start building the segregated cycle track on the eastern side of West Carriage Drive from 2 November. As a result of the works, the following temporary changes will apply from 2 November 2015 until April 2016:
Motorists:
- The speed limit for vehicular traffic on West Carriage Drive will be 20mph for safety reasons
- The works on West Carriage Drive will take approximately 23 weeks and will be delivered in two consecutive phases:
- Phase One: current two way traffic along West Carriage Drive will be maintained for approximately 11 weeks
- Phase Two: Southbound traffic along West Carriage Drive will be maintained, however, northbound traffic will not be permitted. Vehicles approaching from Exhibition Road will still be able to access South Carriage Drive, but will need to divert east or west on Kensington Road to reach destinations to the north.
- Work will pause for two weeks from 21 December 2015 until 4 January 2016
- Some short-term closures of West Carriage Drive may be required between 20:00 and 05:00. Diversion routes will be clearly signed.
- Some parking bays will be temporarily suspended. Affected bays will be clearly signed
Cyclists :
- Some cycle lanes in the park will be closed while works take place. Diversion routes will be clearly signed.
Pedestrians:
- The majority of pedestrian routes will be unaffected, although some sections of footway will be closed for safety reasons. Diversion routes will be clearly signed.
