Following a series of successful major events in Hyde Park, The Royal Parks are currently undertaking reinstatement works to the Parade Ground.
During these works we will be making every effort to keep disruption and closures to a minimum. However, for the safety and enjoyment of our visitors some of the grass areas will be closed to the public and at times access to some sections of paths will be restricted - view a map which highlights the areas affected (PDF 886.57 KB).
These works are an essential part of our annual park management. We are constantly looking at ways to improve and reduce the impact of events including putting substantial measures in place to protect the park. This year, for the first time, we have started the reinstatement work early which will mean that the Parade Ground will be open and accessible, weather depending, by April 2015.
Should you have any queries or comments regarding the works please contact the Hyde Park team at Hyde@royalparks.gsi.gov.uk or contact our main switchboard 0300 061 2000. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.
Major events in the Royal Parks
Events provide a vital source of income to The Royal Parks, allowing us to continue to maintain the parks to high standards against the backdrop of declining Government funding. We also host events to provide cultural, social and sporting activities in the open space, to mark ceremonial, unique and one-off events of a national or historic importance and to promote a wider appreciation of the parks to a diverse range of visitors.
We ensure that event organisers respect the environment and heritage that they are working in, and the constraints that these bring, and put in place measures to protect the park fabric and ecology. We ensure our parks are fully restored after events have taken place, funded by event organisers.
