At 11:01 BST today the Duchess of Cambridge gave birth to a baby boy weighing 8lb 7oz at St Mary's Hospital, London.

Andrew Scattergood, Chief Executive of The Royal Parks, said:

“On behalf of everyone at The Royal Parks, we would like to extend our heartfelt congratulations to their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge on the birth of their third baby.

“We hope the new prince will enjoy playing in and exploring the beautiful natural environment of Kensington Gardens, alongside the millions of other families who visit our eight Royal Parks to relax, spend time together and enjoy our rich natural and cultural heritage.”

There will be a gun salute in Hyde Park at 2pm tomorrow, 24 April.
