There are restoration works currently taking place on the Albert Memorial. These will run until the 24th May 2013.
The works include cleaning, repairs and repointing of marble elements and the granite columns, together with cleaning, patination and waxing of the bronzework.
Over 60 new pieces of marble are being carved to replace missing or damaged stonework statuary elements on the Frieze of Parnassus and the Industrial Arts and Continents.
Minor repairs to the gilding of the Prince Consort Statue are also planned, together with some repairs to the steps and paving.
Tours of the Albert Memorial will resume in June.
