Transport for London (TfL) are planning to carry out resurfacing works in the St James’s Park area as part of the final phase of works to complete the East-West Cycle Superhighway.

A series of temporary road closures will be needed from 29 August as part of these works.

Temporary road closures are outlined below:

Dates

Traffic impacts

Times

Tues 29 Aug – Fri 15 Sep

- No access in either direction on Birdcage Walk between Horse Guards Road and Buckingham Gate.

- No access to Spur Road / Birdcage Walk / Buckingham Gate from The Mall or Constitution Hill

Weekdays closed, Monday 8am – Friday 6pm.

Open weekends.

Temporary traffic diversions will be signed, but please plan ahead, allow more time and use alternative routes, where possible. Roads will be open as normal on the weekend of 2/3 September.

Cyclists and pedestrians

We are also planning to resurface parts of the cycle track and, as a result, some sections will be temporarily suspended. Please follow the signed diversion routes that will be in place, or dismount and use the footpaths around the works.

Footpaths and pedestrian crossings will remain open wherever possible, although some temporary closures or diversions may apply. These will be signed and pedestrian access to properties will not be affected.
