In November 2021, we were required by the Animal and Plant Health Agency to move the pelicans to their enclosure as a precaution during the national outbreak of avian influenza. The government has since announced that the mandatory housing measure for poultry and captive birds will be lifted from Monday 2 May. Read more here.
The public can assist our efforts by not feeding or touching the pelicans or other waterfowl as avian influenza is still present in the country, and reporting any sick or dead birds seen in the Royal Parks to 0300 061 2000 or via email hq@royalparks.org.uk
