Royal Parks News Permit


News permits are required for all media outlets wishing to film, photograph or sound record for the purposes of news coverage on any land managed by The Royal Parks. These are:

  • Brompton Cemetery
  • Bushy Park
  • The Green Park (including Canada Gate for views of Buckingham Palace)
  • Greenwich Park
  • Grosvenor Square Gardens
  • Hyde Park
  • Kensington Gardens
  • The Regent's Park and Primrose Hill
  • Richmond Park
  • St James's Park (including The Mall, Horse Guards Road & Birdcage Walk)
  • Victoria Tower Gardens

News permits cost £100 (exc VAT) per year and must be worn when operating within The Royal Parks. Permits can take up to ten working days to process.

Please note: This permit does not allow access for satellite trucks. Satellite truck access must be requested via The Royal Parks press office: press@royalparks.gsi.gov.uk

If you are making a request for parking after 5.30pm on a weekday or on weekends then please call the press office in the first instance 0300 061 2128.

Apply for a Royal Parks Annual News Permit

To apply for an annual permit, please complete the online form below. Alternatively, you can download and print an application form and send to press@royalparks.gsi.gov.uk.

This is an application to request an annual news permit to film/photograph/sound record for news reports in the Royal Parks. It does not permit filming or photography for non-news or commercial programming.

News permits will be sent to applicants by post.
