Dame Mary Archer appointed as Chair of The Royal Parks

The Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport has appointed Dame Mary Archer as the new Chair of The Royal Parks charity. Dame Mary has been appointed on a term of four years, which will commence on 24 July 2024.

Loyd Grossman is the current Chair of The Royal Parks. Loyd’s term comes to an end on 4 July 2024.

Dame Mary brings a wealth of valuable experience to The Royal Parks.  Her previous roles include Chair of the National Energy Foundation, co-founder of the UK Section of the International Solar Energy Society, Director of Cambridge University Health Partners, Chair of the Science Museum Group and Chair of Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. She is currently a Non-Executive Board Member of the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero, Chancellor of the university of Buckingham and member of the Board of the Library of Alexandria’

Following her appointment, Dame Mary said: 

“I greatly look forward to joining The Royal Parks, which has clearly flourished under the chairmanship of Loyd Grossman since becoming a charity in 2017. I look forward to working with the trustees and the team to continue this work and ensure the charity goes from strength to strength. The Parks are an outstanding resource, open to all, and help improve everyone’s quality of life and wellbeing”.
