Lend a hand and leave your mark in The Green Park

Sunday 9 June, 11am - 3pm

We are taking part in the Big Help Out by planting thousands of wildflowers.

Planting wildflowers is a fantastic and easy way to help nature thrive no matter how much space you have – wildflowers grow well in a plant pot on a windowsill, in a garden, and in large meadows in parks!

Not only do wildflowers provide colourful displays, but they also provide nectar and pollen for our pollinating bees, flies, and butterflies too. Having a mixture of plants in the parks also makes them more resilient to the effects of climate change.

Join us and get involved with hands-on planting and leave your mark in The Green Park by planting a river of blue wildflowers such as  Harebells, Birdseye Speedwell, Self Heal, Common Dog Violet and Field Forget-me-not.

Drop-in any time between 11am – 3pm.

We will be planting in the ground, and this can involve bending down. We will have some kneeling pads and spades to assist with planting. Do let a member of staff know if you need any assistance with any of the tools.

We will have a lot of flowers to plant, but we will be limited to availability. We hope to give each group the opportunity to plant at least five flowers.

If it gets busy, there may be some queueing before planting the flowers. We will have some queue games and activities to help keep people of all ages busy.
