The Royal Parks seeks visitor views on Primrose Hill

In response to complaints about anti-social behaviour on Primrose Hill, The Royal Parks is undertaking an engagement survey to understand more fully the issues and concerns that have been raised and therefore whether park opening hours should be changed.

During the pandemic, instances of noise and other anti-social behaviour increased, and this was attributed to the Covid lockdown restrictions – prior to Covid, there were infrequent instances of such behaviour. In recent months, while the situation has stabilised, there have been reports of disruption at night, resulting in The Royal Parks introducing temporary weekend closures. Some local residents and visitors have asked for night-time closures to be made permanent and have proposed installing gates to support the measure. Conversely, others are strongly opposed to such constraints which they say restrict a public amenity they have long enjoyed.

An engagement survey to gather the views of local residents and park visitors launches today and will last for six weeks. The survey can be found at https://surveys.trueology.com/s3/Primrose-Hill. Additionally, there will be the opportunity for people to complete the survey face-to-face with researchers who will be in the park on Saturday 3^rd December between 10am and 4pm, and on Tuesday 6^th December between 10am and 2pm, and between 3pm and 5pm. Two additional dates will be announced shortly. The Royal Parks believes that this engagement exercise, together with other evidence, will provide the opportunity to understand the views and strength of feeling within the wider community and help inform any decision regarding the future management of public access to Primrose Hill.

Once the survey findings have been analysed, the data will be published. This data, along with other information, will be used for making any decisions on the future of Primrose Hill.

The survey will run until 21 December 2022 and is being conducted by independent research agency Trueology.
