The Royal Parks' Volunteer Rangers

The Royal Parks seeks volunteer rangers for The Regent's Park

Following a successful run in Richmond, Bushy and Greenwich Parks, The Royal Parks charity will be launching its volunteer ranger service in The Regent’s Park this spring.

Recruitment for volunteer rangers in this central Royal Park will open on 23 January 2023 and the charity is on the lookout for friendly and chatty people who are passionate about The Regent’s Park, and keen to inspire and educate visitors.

Volunteers will need to commit to a minimum of three hours per month.

Volunteer Officer for The Royal Parks, Anna MacLaughlin, said;

“The ranger service has been phenomenally successful in three of the Royal Parks, with over 150 volunteer rangers on the books currently. We feel the time is now right to launch this service in The Regent’s Park - an iconic Grade 1 listed landscape, spanning 410 acres, which receives over eight million visits a year.”

The rangers will operate in pairs, and will share facts about the park’s heritage, provide tips on the best walking and cycling routes, and inform visitors on how we can all help nature thrive in the parks. Rangers can choose from a range of 90-minute volunteering sessions across weekdays and weekends that suit their schedule.

MacLaughlin adds:

“Becoming a volunteer ranger is a great way to be out in nature, to make friends and to learn more about this centuries-old park. The Regent’s Park has everything you could wish for, including elegant formal gardens, central London’s largest outdoor sports area, wild spaces for nature and lots of opportunities for culture, including art fairs, seasonal sculpture parks and an open-air theatre”.

Applications will open on 23 January and close on 26 February 2023. Full training will be given.
