Sounds of the Subaquatic

Listen to the amazing underwater sounds of our lakes, ponds and streams

The Royal Parks’ Sounds of the Subaquatic is a sound art project utilising sound and audio to understand and curate the landscapes of the parks, our wildlife habitats and the species that live and forage there. The project is part of The Royal Parks’ Help Nature Thrive programme, which is made possible by players of People’s Postcode Lottery.

In 2023 we were delighted to welcome students, lecturers and visiting artists from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, who have been undertaking a composition projects to bring our underwater habitats alive for visitors. Under the guidance of composer and sound artist Dr Emily Peasgood the students recorded the weird and wonderful sounds of our ponds and lakes and produced site-specific compositions of the underwater scenes.
