In liaison with our tree experts and Health and Safety team we have made this decision to ensure the safety of all park users including vehicle users and cyclists.
The Royal Parks are home to over 170,000 trees spread across 5,000 acres, with a significant population of ancient and veteran trees that are vulnerable to high winds.
We will be monitoring the forecast closely over the next 24 hours and if there are any changes we will communicate these via this website and twitter account @theroyalparks
All parks will reopen on Monday, as soon as it is deemed safe to do so.
The Royal Parks are: Bushy Park, The Green Park, Greenwich Park, Hyde Park, Kensington Gardens, The Regent’s Park and Primrose Hill, Richmond Park and St James’s Park.
In addition, we will be also closing Victoria Tower Gardens and Brompton Cemetery.
