Overlooking the River Thames and home to some of London’s most iconic views, Greenwich Park is an amazing mix of 17th century landscape, stunning gardens and a rich history that dates back to Roman times.

Greenwich Park Revealed has begun!

Increasing visitor footfall, new tree diseases and erosion of the 590-year-old historic landscape are putting a strain on Greenwich Park’s infrastructure, facilities and natural environment.

The Royal Parks has embarked on its biggest ever project; to reveal, restore, protect and share the historic and natural landscape, invest in new visitor facilities and develop training, leisure and volunteering opportunities for a growing and diverse local community.

The four-year project, called “Greenwich Park Revealed” will see £8 million pounds invested into the park. The project is possible thanks to a £4.5m grant from The National Lottery Heritage Fund and The National Lottery Community Fund .

Greenwich Park has something for everyone. Stand on the Prime Meridian, the reference point for Greenwich Mean Time (GMT). Follow in the footsteps of England’s kings and queens with a walk through ancient tree avenues . Visit the tranquil Flower, Herb and Rose Gardens , explore the Park’s wildlife or enjoy a snack at the Pavilion Café.

The park is at the heart of the Greenwich Maritime World Heritage Site.

Did You Know?

Britain’s first Black British voter, Ignatius Sancho lived next door to the Park and he is commemorated by a plaque near the Rose Garden.  Born on a slave ship, Sancho was a self-educated composer, writer and Man of Letters.
