Barclaycard presents British Summer Time Hyde Park (BST) has won 'Festival of the Year' at the UK Event Awards and a second award for 'Best Use of New Technology' at the Festival Awards.
Both awards were won off the back of a successful first year for the event which launched in July 2013.
The inaugural event saw The Rolling Stones return to Hyde Park nearly 44 years after their 1969 performance. The iconic rockers came back for two sell out concerts where they performed hits such as Start Me Up and Jumpin' Jack Flash.
Music fans from far and wide flocked to see many of their favourite headlining and supporting music artists play over back to back weekends, including: Jon Bon Jovi, The Beach Boys, Jennifer Lopez and Lionel Richie.
Each live music-packed weekend was linked by a midweek programme of diverse entertainment, giving park visitors the opportunity to access the event site for free and soak up the unique atmosphere. From Monday to Thursday, visitors were able to get involved with smaller, more intimate events offering film, music, literature and sport.
Penny Boyd, Head of Events and Filming at The Royal Parks said: "This is a fantastic achievement for an event in its first year.
"We said from the start that BST was going to be a new era for concerts in Hyde Park and it didn't disappoint. We are very proud with what was achieved in 2013 from the magnificent Great Oak Stage to welcoming The Rolling Stones back to Hyde Park after 44 years.
"Working with our partners AEG Live, we not only delivered a truly unique event for Central London, we also raised the bar in terms of sustainability, customer experience and service and local engagement. We are looking forward to building on that success and continuing the great work for 2014."
