Saturday 20 June, 12-4pm
Join us for this summer celebration marking the end of artist Leah Clements’ residency at Greenwich Park.
Leah has been the Royal Parks’ first ever artist-in-residence, in partnership with UP Projects’ Constellations ° Residency Programme, since January 2026. She has been working with other disabled, chronically ill, D/deaf, neurodivergent people, and those with mental health or other access needs, to engage with the park through the different senses.
A new artwork will be premiered at this event, exploring Leah’s interest in ‘access adjustment as artwork’, and featuring the voices of participants from her series of workshops. In these sessions participants have slowed down, focusing on describing the tastes, smells, sights, sounds, and feel of the park, and sharing these moments together.
Getting to The Learning Centre
The closest entrances are Blackheath Gate and Vanbrugh Park Gate. The closest blue badge parking within the park is by the Pavilion Cafe (there are 7 spaces available here, or some closer accessible bays on Blackheath Avenue).
Use our interactive map and filter by accessibility for more info.
Access
-
This event take place both inside and outside of The Learning Centre, so please bring warm clothes in case it’s needed.
-
Wheelchair access - The site is level access, with paving. There is a little bit of bumpiness across some grass, which you can choose to cross or not. It isn’t hilly.
-
Toilets - There are toilets on site, including a wheelchair accessible toilet. There is a Changing Places toilet an 8 minute walk away for a typical walker. Here is a link with more information.
-
Allergies - The event is in the park so grass, trees, and other natural life will be around us.
-
Audio Description - The artwork will have audio descriptions, captions and BSL interpretation
-
Speech-to-text - Staff will have an iPad with speech-to-text software.
-
Seating - There will be wooden chairs with backs, the seats measuring 38 x 38cm. There will be floor cushions and mats to sit or lay down on
-
Quietness - The event itself will be held in the Learning Centre. Nearby is the Flower Garden, where dogs aren’t allowed in, and quiet corners are usually available. There will be ear defenders available.
-
Support Animals - Support animals including guide dogs are welcome, and there will be water available for them to drink. Non-support animals are not allowed at the event.
-
Further Support - Greenwich Park staff will be at the event to answer further questions around access. They will be wearing green lanyards and fleeces with ‘Royal Parks’ written on them.
If you’d like to get in touch ahead of the event about anything access-related please email us at community@royalparks.org.uk
