Let’s show off how amazing our cities can be for wildlife this spring!
Every year, cities around the world take part in City Nature Challenge to record and share observations of any plant, animal, or evidence of urban life.
Nature Recording Day
25 April, 12pm - 3pm
Join us in The Regent’s Park and use the free iNaturalist app to document some of the amazing biodiversity of the park as part of City Nature Challenge 2026, a global event to get people recording and connecting with their local urban wildlife.
Anyone is welcome, so drop in anytime to take part in these fun interactive activities.
- Explore different habitats and learn how we look after them at The Royal Parks
- Help record nature in our parks and submit important data to global conservation efforts
- Have a go with binoculars to take a closer look at nature.
- Take photos of nearby wildlife and add your sighting to a sightings board.
Sending in wildlife sightings is important to understand species population trends. It is also a fantastic opportunity to take some time to notice what is around you and learn more about local nature!
We will be recording any plants, animals and fungi that we see using the free iNaturalist app. Share a photo and the app will assist you to identify and record the species you find.
- Please download the iNaturalist app and set up an account before the event.
- See an easy guide to using iNaturalist from the Bristol Natural History Consortium.
- Local Record Centres and National Recording Schemes do vital work in monitoring wildlife populations. We also recommend providing a full name to your iNaturalist account, otherwise the data is unlikely to be accepted as ‘complete’ by record centres.
